Day 1 of our DETOX YOUR LIFE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE kicks off with a yummy spin on a well known dish:

Raw Butternut Squash Soup

And yes, butternut squash can be eaten raw! :)

Consuming pureed or liquefied foods allows our bodies to readily absorb the nutrients in our food and gives our digestive system a rest in order to facilitate healing in other areas where it might be needed. The majority of our immune system is located within our gut. This is why it is super important to feed your body what it needs, not just what it craves, giving it breaks through liquid feasting like we're embarking on now. It's a great way to cleanse your body both naturally and gently.

This recipe is easy to make, doesn't require a lot of ingredients, tastes great and of course is great for you.

This is the basic core recipe, which I always build on top of depending on what I'm in the mood for that day. Put your own spin on it and add whatever seasonings you desire, or substitute the oil for your favorite or none at all.

You'll need to keep the blender running for a while to make sure all the squash is broken down (but not too long if you have a high speed blender).

Many thanks to my sis Janine Jackson for the pic design inspiration!

Enjoy! :)
